Gambling addict Ben Affleck to Divorce Jennifer Garner, but Share House

When couples divorce, the last thing most of them want to do is remain in close proximity to one another. The same cannot be said of blackjack addict Ben Affleck and his spouse of 10 years, Jennifer Garner. Although news of their impending divorce has been confirmed, they’ve decided to continue living together in their Pacific Palisades home.

The two Hollywood super stars began dating after co-starring in the 2003 film, Daredevil, and were eventually married on June 29, 2005. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have since begotten three children together, and despite a flurry of blissful photographs from the paparazzi over the last decade, the two have clearly become despondent in their marriage.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner to DivorceWord of dissension in the ranks first surfaced last year, right around the same time news surfaced of Ben Affleck being banned from a Las Vegas casino. He was caught counting cards at the blackjack tables of the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas in April of 2014, resulting in a ban from that establishment’s gaming floor.

He was then seen at least twice in May playing blackjack and high stakes poker. One of those dates in particular, May 14, 2014, he was sighted playing at a Las Vegas casino in the wee hours of the morning. His wife was in New York at the time, suggesting that Ben Affleck had left the children with a babysitter while satiating his desire to gamble.

Ben was also spotted playing blackjack at Detroit’s MotorCity Casino during the filming of Batman vs Superman in September of last year.

It’s not clear just how large of a role the 42-year old director and actor’s blackjack addiction may have had in the couple’s separation, but rumors of an inevitable divorce have been circulating for months now. A source told reporters that the two have “been in therapy for years now,” going separately and together as needed.

While confirming their upcoming divorce, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner issued a joint statement to the press:

“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce.

“We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time.

“This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding.”

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner Still Living Together

Interestingly enough, an unnamed source has confirmed that the not-so-happy couple will continue to reside together in their 8,800 square foot property in Pacific Palisades, California. However, thanks to the capacious landscape, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner won’t actually have to see each other very often.

Apparently Ben Affleck has begun renovations of his own secluded living quarters. “’Ben is making a section of the house into his private area,” reported the source, adding that the media-termed ‘man cave’ “is complete with his own bedroom.”

Although the couple indicated that co-parenting was a prominent long-term goal, which would support the idea of Ben Affleck remaining in the house, the source identified another probable reason for the decision.

“If he stays in the house, Jen won’t be able to argue in divorce court that he’s an absentee dad,” said the source.

Rather than keeping close quarters and risk fighting in front of their children, Violet (9), Seraphina (6) and Samuel (3), Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner can raise their still children together without actually having to interact much with one another.
